How the Classic Sleep Pad Works

The Classic contains hundreds of permanent ceramic alloy magnets laminated between layers of foam. The magnets are arranged to create one unified field across the sleeping area.

The system is designed to measure 5 gauss at the top surface of an 8-inch mattress. The individual magnets have a core rating of 3,950 gauss, but the relevant customer-facing measurement is the magnetic field produced at mattress level rather than the strength of an individual magnet.

Mattress Thickness Requirements

Your mattress must provide at least four inches of separation between your body and the Classic Sleep Pad. The Classic’s advertised 5-gauss field is measured at the surface of an 8-inch mattress.

The magnetic field reaching the mattress surface depends on the distance between you and the pad, so the 5-gauss rating should be understood as the measurement through an 8-inch mattress rather than a universal measurement for every mattress thickness.

We recommend the Super Sleep System for mattresses more than 14 inches thick. Contact the Magnetico team before ordering if you have an unusually thick or layered mattress setup.

How to Install the Classic Sleep Pad

Prepare the bed base: Remove your mattress and ensure the box spring or bed frame provides an even surface.

Position the Classic Pad: Place the pad on the box spring or frame, underneath the mattress.

Keep the labels facing upwards: The labels should face the ceiling. They may be positioned at either the head or foot of the bed.

Check the full sleeping area: Choose a pad matching the bed size when two people sleep in the bed.

Replace the mattress carefully: Classic sections weigh between approximately 39 and 59 pounds each, so assistance may be needed during installation.

Never fold the pad: Roll it according to the supplied instructions if it needs to be moved or stored.

What should I choose for a mattress over 14 inches thick?

We recommend the Super Sleep System for mattresses more than 14 inches thick.

Does it work with memory foam or coil mattresses?

Yes. Mattress materials, including foam, memory foam, and coil springs, do not prevent the system from being used.

Can I use it with a slatted bed frame?

Yes, but the pad must not sag between widely spaced slats. Add thick cardboard, thin plywood or a bunkie board where additional support is needed.

Can I use it with an adjustable bed?

Yes. Check the pad periodically to ensure it has not shifted, compressed, or folded.

Does the pad need to match the size of my bed?

Yes, when two people use the bed. The current Magnetico guidance advises using a pad that covers the shared sleeping area.
