Why We Are Better

All other magnetic sleep pads expose the body to alternating positive and negative fields, when used as directed. This stimulates both the brain and the body to fix the problem. People can get good results initially, but over time the body’s reserve of energy will become depleted and the benefits will diminish. It is often recommended to take a two to four week break from these types of pads to restore the body’s energy levels before the person becomes fatigued or ill.

Many people mistakenly believe that if they place the negative (-) side of a magnet against their body, their body will only be affected by the polarity closest to them. The nature of the magnet is that it must have both polarities, so there is always a return field (the opposite polarity) around that magnet’s surface. Even if a company promises a pure negative (-) field, if their instructions are to place the sleep pad on top of your bed, you will not receive a pure negative (-) field. The magnets may be facing negative (-) side up but you will still be exposed to positive (+) ‘spikes’ between each of the magnets (see diagram next page).

Some newer models on the market imitate the Magnetico Sleep Pad by using similar magnets and placing them all negative (-) side up. But, because these pads are placed on the top of the bed, you are still exposed to the positive (+) field spikes.

If you were to place these pads under your mattress (as we do with the Magnetico pad), the magnetic field penetrating your body would be drastically reduced because they contain less magnets and/or smaller magnets.

Because the Magnetico Sleep Pad is placed between the box spring and mattress (or any other spacer over 4″), you are not exposed to the unwanted positive (+) spikes. The result is a pure negative (-) magnetic field that significantly supplements the Earth’s reduced field.

Comparison Diagram

All other sleep pads (Fig 1); expose the body to alternating Positive and Negative fields, when used as directed. This stimulates both the brain and the body to fix the problem. People can get good results initially, but over time the body’s reserve of energy will get drained and the benefits will diminish. It is often recommended to take a two to four week `break’ from these types of pads to restore the body’s energy levels because the person is fatigued and sick.

Even if a company promises a pure negative (-) field, if their instructions are to place the sleep pad on top of your bed, you will not receive a pure negative (-) field. The magnets may be facing negative (-) side up but you will still be exposed to positive (+) `spikes’ coming off the magnets (see Fig 1).

Some newer models on the market imitate the Magnetico Sleep Pad (Fig 2) by using similar magnets and placing them all negative (-) side up. But, because these pads are placed on the top of the bed, you are still exposed to the positive (+) field spikes.

The Magnetico Difference

If you were to place these pads under your mattress (as we do with the Magnetico pad see Fig2), the magnetic field penetrating your body would be drastically reduced. Our product is superior because the Magnetico Sleep Pad is placed between the box spring and mattress (or any other spacer over 4″), you are not exposed to the unhealthy positive (+) spikes.

  1. Questions: I use an approximately 8-inch Tempurpedic ‘mattress’ on top of wood slats in an all-wood bed. Would a Magnetico pad work properly between the wood slats and high-density foam? Sorry if this is somewhere in FAQs but I missed it. Thank you.

    1. Both the Tempurpedic mattress and wooden slats are fine to use, they will not interfere with the function of the Sleep Pad. Our only recommendation is if the gaps between the slats are too wide, such that the sleep pad is sagging between them, we would recommend placing a layer of cardboard between the slats and the Sleep Pad to avoid potential damage while still allowing the slats to flex independently.

  2. I have an adjustable Tempurpedic. Will the sleep pad not get damaged by raising both the head and foot? Also, will the mattress slide and/or the pad slide? If the pad slides I won’t be able to move it back with the mattress on top of it.

    1. Hi Sean,
Many of our customers use the Magnetico Sleep Pad on adjustable beds and have reported no issues. Typically the angles involved with these types of beds aren’t extreme enough to cause the magnets to damage each other, but I suppose it could depend on individual use. As for movement and long term wear, my only recommendation would be to test how far you normally use your bed and see if it moves and try to minimize the number of times you lift and lower the different areas.

  3. How thick is the magnet itself?

    1. The magnets that we use are 1/2 inch thick ceramic magnets, of which there can be thousands in a single Sleep Pad.

  4. HI. I use 2 foam pads, stacked on top of each other, which are approx. 9″ high, compressed, probably 3.5-5″. I would put your pad under both, onto the floor (carpeted). The house sits on a crawl space. Would this create any problems? Thanks! Julia

    1. If I understand your situation correctly, I can’t see any issues with this setup! 9″ of material between you and the pad is normal, as most people’s mattresses do sink.

  5. What’s the minimum thickness I could use? My setup is a traditional tatami mat (2.1 inches thick) with a shikibuton pad on top (1 inch when compressed) – for a total thickness of 3 inches.

    1. We recommend at least 4 inches of mattress/material between you and the Sleep Pad. However, being so close to that, using either the Booster Pad or a Super Sleep System does provide a little more leeway, as there is roughly 1 inch of foam above the magnets on those top pads. So if you do order one I would recommend one of those (or adding something to your current bed setup such as 1 inch of foam).

  6. Hi. Is it necessary to sleep on your back. I am a side sleeper and toss and turn from side to side.

  7. Hi, I used to put my Joovv LED ( red light/ Infrared light therapy) on my bed for the treatment of my head. Can I still keep the LED on my bed if I install the Magnetico super sleep pad system for my bed, or will the magnetic be harmful to my LED?

    1. As per our FAQ, if you choose to use any electronic devices near or on the Sleep Pad, you do so at your own risk. Magnetic fields can interact with electronic devices, and we cannot guarantee no temporary or permanent damage won’t happen with your device. Dr. Bonlie also does not suggest using other devices such as ground pads/sheets, PEMF devices, or or other electronics near you while you sleep as these can interfere with the function of the Sleep Pad.

      1. What about cell phones near or on the bed? Does this interfere with the function of the sleep pad or risk damage to the cell phone?

        1. Please see FAQ Question #6. All electronic devices used within 4 feet of the Sleep Pad are done so at your own risk. While we have had many customers report no issues, such a strong magnetic field means we can’t guarantee nothing will happen. The phone does not interfere with the function of the Sleep Pad.

  8. I use electric blanket and a mustard seed pad on my mattress, will any of these or both interfere with the pad?

  9. What is the range of the magnet’s in your pad, is it 8 inches or 10 inches that they are effective at.

    Thanks,

    1. The Sleep Pad can be used even with mattresses up to 16″ thick (a minimum of 4″). However the farther you are from the pad, there is a decrease in strength of the magnetic field.

  10. Can the sleeping pad be used inside an “over the bed” EMF Shielding Canopy/Faraday cage?

    1. Yes this is possible. Dr. Bonlie has told me it’s important to make sure the canopy does not touch the bed/blanket/frame/you so as to avoid exposure to a bipolar magnetic field though.

  11. Apparently Fig. 2 shows the Classic Pad (5 gauss). For the Core or Booster Pads (10 gauss each), with more magnets, are the red spikes shorter/smaller? Thanks.

    1. You are correct, they would be slightly smaller. However for the purposes of function it doesn’t change too much.

  12. My mattress is 10″ thick with springs. Is that okay.

  13. My cat likes to jump up on the end of our bed and lay during the day. Would this be an issue for cat in any way?

    1. This is not a problem, animals receive the same benefits we do by being on the pad.
